Note: Chris is an appreciated addition to the core of the Pittman family. When she met Peter she was working as a hair stylist and owned her own salon for many years. She had a child from her first marriage, Vanessa, and she has shared her
parenthood with Peter. She has also shared her daughter and her whole family, Walter and Beana, with our family. Over the years we have come to appreciate her sense of fairness, her good heart and especially her cheerfulness(...our family
has not always been strong on that quality)...and Chris has led the way for us all in that arena. Hardworking and very social, our family hasbeen happy to accept her as one of our own.
Note: Chris recently has acquired a horse, Tango, and has entered the equine world. She partners with Peter in their restaraunt businesses.

Note: I have interview several people in Chuckatuck who knew either Thomas Pittman, Sr. and his second wife, Nellie Gale Pittman. During these interviews there wasn't much information given except that Thomas worked on the James River Bridge and
done much of the electrical wiring for the part of the bridge that went up and let the boats through. There were some anecdotes that told of him holding the bridge "hostage" until some demand was met because he was the only one that knew how
it was wired. The bridge authorities had to call him every time something was wrong with the bridge so he could assist with repairs. (Hey, that's a good way to keep yourself in a job!) They also mentioned that he had asthma very bad; had
somewhat of a temper (he kicked a rock in anger and broke his foot); was not a churchgoing man and lived at the Gale place, Cherry Grove, in Chuckatuck.

Note: Alise Collier was my grandfather's first wife. My father spoke of her very little; she died relatively young in her 40''s and was buried in Petersburg, her birthplace, Dec. 15, 1933.
Note: My Aunt Elizabeth, my father's half-sister, told me she was a beautiful woman in her youth; loved to read; and as she grew older became very overweight. She had had two husbands before Thomas G. One fathered Willa Alise and Elizabeth's father
was a Scott.
Note: Alise's death certificate (Commonwealth of Va. Cert. of Death #26246) lists her priciple causes of death as obesity; hypertensiive heart disease, and broncho-pneumonia. She didn't have an occupation listed in any of the documents found. It is
reputed that her branch of the family boasts Jefferson Davis and Presidents Harrison as a relatives. My unt Celeste left Norfolk (and probably her husband, Mr. Nelms) to help Thomas G. raise his three boys, Thomas Jr., Robert Collier, and
John (Jack) Lee after Alise died at Ricmond Memorial Hospital in 1933. Collier died in his early 20's. Both my father and my Aunt Liz had mentioned that Alise was a Christian Scientist and Collier's life might have been saved if she had
gotten medical care for him.
